I am a fat, white genderqueer femme witch. Everything I know about tarot and magic, I learned from queer and trans folks, mostly femmes. I’ve had some (lightly creepy) intuitive magics since I was a little kid, and recently learned that my maternal grandfather was a tarot reader.
Emotional awareness, intuition, holding space for hard feelings, and having sturdy boundaries are skills I developed through a combo of my own experiences of trauma and violence, as well as my training (community based and academic) in support work and social services. I have an MSW and a decade of experience working within queer and trans communities and with survivors of sexual and gender based violence.
I have found the practice of using tarot for reflection immensely helpful in my own life. I had my own cards read for the first time in January 2013 by femme healer hero Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, which was a transformative and healing experience. Shortly after, I got myself a Collective Tarot deck and began reading for myself and my loved ones.
Most often you can find me in toronto/tkaronto- land that has historical and ongoing stewardship from Haudenosaunee, Huron Wendat, and Mississauga of New Credit peoples. I live and work as a settler on this land, and work to recognize the ways in which I benefit from colonization, historical and ongoing.
